Well, that went quick!
It’s September – post Labor Day September at that. I am not really sure what happened to summer, but here we are... FALL!
First, we need to talk about summer. Bask in its glow, and reminisce about all of the fun and exciting things that happened up on the hill and companywide. We released two new beers Memorial Day Weekend, Slim Shandy, and Me and Julio Lime! This year we launched them with a diverse (and delicious) Summer Menu that seemed to keep all of you coming in for more. Slim Shandy was gone by the end of July, but there are still a few pints of Me and Julio Lime left at the Brewery. Slim Shandy picked up a lot of fans at Beer on the Bay this year and perhaps it will make a comeback tour next summer... who knows... I have learned over the years that beer and toddlers have a lot in common. Unpredictable, ever changing, and in need constant attention.
But enough about Slim and Julio, because the moment I have been waiting for since last October has finally arrived. The launch of my personal favorite beer, the one I wait for with baited- breath, my post shift delight, and the seasonal you all can’t seem to get enough of.... OKTOBERFEST IS BACK, baby!
Last year we released Oktoberfest in cans and paired it with a companywide menu that could be found in all of our pubs. You really seemed to eat it up. Pun intended. This year we did it again (Hey look, we went from Slim to Britney, hello 2001), and are bringing you our delicious Smith’s bratwurst collaboration, Apple Strudel, Kielbasa, not to mention a delicious Meat board appetizer, and so much more! This once a year delight will only be around until it’s gone, but don’t worry, a second batch is in the tanks so there is plenty to go around. For now. Find it on draft or in cans at Harbor House, Public House or John Russell Brewing Company.
Plans are already being made for our winter collaborations with New Trail, and while we don’t know exactly what those will look like yet, we are always excited to work with our friends down in Williamsport.
Look for us in October at Lions, Tigers, and Beers, and perhaps another pop up event here or there – our local brewing friends are always plotting, planning, hosting, and giving you opportunities to drink local, please don’t be afraid to take them up on it and say “Hi.”
Pint Pass Sign- Ups are happening now through October 1st! If you haven’t renewed or signed up yet, please stop in and do so! I say it all the time – Thursdays are our favorite night of the week, especially when it comes to our Pint Pass regulars. We love to see your familiar faces, pour your favorite beers, and release all of those new beers to you first. There is something about Thursday nights that are just more fun. Come see and experience it for yourself. New memberships are $75 for the year and a discounted rate is offered for our returning members.
I would be remiss if I didn’t say a special “thank you” to Josh for all of his hard work and delicious food spread he put together for the Pint Pass renewal party this year. It was a great event and as usual, we had a great time with our returning members and some new friends they brought along.
Up here on the hill we are kicking it into high gear for fall. We have a lot of new faces and new features coming your way from Josh and Hannah. Come sit at the bar, try an item off one of the new menus, drink a cocktail, or a beer and enjoy the chaos, mayhem, and joy that is John Russsell Brewing Company! We hope to see you soon!
